The idea
A personal site can be a small place to explore. HalwellOS presents projects, notes and a CV as a filesystem, with windows, a working shell and a pixel cat called Bit.
One content source
Markdown becomes both OS documents and plain reading pages at build time. The virtual filesystem powers file browsing and terminal commands, while public documents have canonical URLs, a feed and a sitemap.
Interaction design
Desktop windows can move, resize, minimise and restore. Compact screens show one app at a time. Browser history follows navigation; session state restores windows and unsent contact drafts. Preferences provide a quiet cat and a calmer backdrop.
Evidence
You’re using the result. Read as a website to see the same content without the desktop shell, or try help in Terminal.
